To address the city’s increasing garbage disposal issues, the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) has unveiled a comprehensive new waste management policy. The plan, which was unveiled by Mayor Elizabeth Sackey, calls for the deployment of contemporary waste collection trucks, community education initiatives, and heightened recycling activities.
“We want Accra to rank among Africa’s cleanest cities. We will be able to manage waste more effectively and sustainably with this new approach,” said Mayor Sackey. To guarantee successful execution, the strategy also include collaborations with nearby communities and private trash management firms. To support the effort, residents are urged to follow garbage disposal regulations and take part in recycling initiatives.
