Shugatiti, a Ghanaian actress, has addressed those who have called her a “prostitute” because of her actions on social media.

She made the straightforward claim that women who have repeated extramarital affairs may be viewed as prostitutes in an interview with Fiifi Pratt on Kingdom FM.

“People label me a prostitute, but I think a woman is considered a prostitute if she has several relationships with men without getting married. That’s my perspective. I have only dated one Nigerian, personally,” Shugatiti claimed.

“Prostitution is more than just street solicitation,” she said, adding that it also includes those who have several premarital affairs.

Shugatiti said she doesn’t care about internet criticism because her view of prostitution is based on a more comprehensive definition of the term.

“Being a prostitute is more than just living on the streets. “Anyone who has sex with more than one partner outside of marriage is involved,” she said.

Shugatiti attributed this trend to financial difficulties and gave the example of a woman she knows who is seeing several men at the same time. On social media, her remarks have generated conflicting responses.

Eddie Nartey, an actor, expressed his disagreement with Shugatiti’s analogy. “I do not subscribe to that analogy,” he wrote. “Ashawo” is just sex for cash. What does it mean to be ‘Ashawo’ if you have had two relationships that were not founded on the aforementioned? Unless Gen Zers have altered the definition.

The Ghanaian actress added in her article that many women depend on multiple men for a variety of necessities, such as wigs, rent, and mobile credit.
