By providing tools to help hairdressers and dressmakers in Busunya, a community in the Bono East region’s Nkoranza North constituency, former First Lady Mrs. Lordina Dramani Mahama has significantly boosted the economy of the unorganized sector.
One hundred twenty (120) sewing machines, one hundred (100) hair dryers, and accessories were donated, made possible by the Lordina Foundation. Supporting recently graduated apprentices and talented craftswomen who are mentoring young girls undergoing vocational training in the district is the goal of this initiative.
Mrs. Mahama stressed in her speech the need of taking their careers seriously and refraining from procrastination and a lack of dedication to fulfilling client deadlines.
In order to keep existing customers and draw in new ones, she urged the winners to place a high priority on providing excellent customer service.
As the wife of the flagbearer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), she also reaffirmed her husband’s dedication to establishing a revolutionary Free Apprenticeship Program.
By providing them with the necessary resources and funds to launch their own enterprises following their training, this innovative program seeks to benefit both apprentices and their mentors.
Mrs. Mahama emphasized how the program may provide these artisans with a better future and act as a ray of hope for the neighborhood. She underlined how important artisans are to the country’s economy.
Supporting and growing the informal sector is essential for the nation’s overall economic growth and development, as seen by her pledge that her husband, if elected, would create an environment that would allow these firms to thrive.
She added that encouraging artisans and apprentices would ensure the expansion and success of companies in this industry, which would develop the country’s economy as a whole.
In addition, 300 widows in the constituency received gifts from Mrs. Mahama.
